It was at a meal presentation event by Garuda Indonesia held on 13 September 2017 at DNATA Inflight Kitchen in Singapore that we realised that the national flag carrier of Indonesia had refreshed its amenity kit across all classes.

Garuda Indonesia First Class

Passengers flying on First Class will get a larger pillow than in the other classes, a comforter, headphones and slippers together with an amenity kit. Loungewear is also provided. Garuda’s slipper service has been raved about by many. The cabin crew comes over and keeps your shoes in individual bags and assists you by putting on the slippers on.

The amenity kit, supplied by WESSCO International, now comes in a brown or white canvas bag fitted inside an outer drawstring pouch. It contains body lotion and facial moisturizer by Hermés and a non-branded lip balm. The Hermés Eau d’orrange verte scented products are similar to those that are offered at Sofitel Hotels and Resorts around the world. The kit also contains an eyeshade, hairbrush, earplugs. The inner lining of the bag features an elegant re-interpretation of traditional Indonesian tenun, or woven cloth.

When Garuda Indonesia relaunched their First Class product upon receiving their new B777-300ER in 2013, they introduced a very impressive Loewe branded amenity kit. It came elegantly boxed up with a zippered leather kit that contained Agua de Loewe EDT, a 50ml tube of non-oily body balm and a 2ml revitalizing eye contour together with eye shades, a hairbrush, shoe horn and dental kit.

Garuda Indonesia operates its Boeing 777-300ER with eight luxurious private suites in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each suite features a sliding door for privacy, ergonomic seat with an 82-inch pitch and 22-inch width. The seat can be converted into a flat bed with mattress, duvet and pillows. The middle suites have adjustable dividers for privacy or conversation. Enjoy your in-flight entertainment on the 23.5-inch touchscreen LCD, equipped with remote and noise canceling headphone. The suite also has its own wardrobe and storage.

First Class destinations include Jeddah, Amsterdam, Tokyo and London.

Garuda Indonesia Business Class

In Business Class, the L’Occitane Verbana-infused EDT, lip balm and body lotion amenity kit has been replaced with one featuring Clarins from Paris – a moisture replenishing lip balm with essential rose wax, moisture-rich body lotion with shea butter for dry skin, HydraQuench Cream and an invigorating fragrance which seemed to be missing from the display. These together with ear plugs, eye shades, foldable hair brush, slippers and dental kit are packed into a flat dark blue zipper bag with light brown trimmings.

The bag, supplied by WESSCO International, is made of textured linen with a sleek micro-fibre upper section and strap. It is available in both light brown and blue and the reverse colourway. The inner lining features a reinterpretation of traditional Indonesian tenun.

If you are flying on board Garuda Indonesia’s new Boeing 777-300ER, there are 38 staggered seats in a 1-2-1 configuration where every guest gets direct aisle access. The seats have a 43” pitch and 21.2” width that reclines into a flat bed. The LCD touchscreen is 15”. Other amenities include a hypoallergenic pillow in cotton cover and furtex-plush duvet.

Garuda Indonesia Economy Class

In Economy Class, customers also receive headphones for the inflight entertainment, a pillow and blanket. Amenity kits are also provided for the comfort of passengers on overnight flights. The kits feature Indonesian batik heritage designs – universal unity, water and light and palm fruit symbolisms.

What impressed me at the meal presentation was the variety of food in Economy class depending on the destination it was flying out from Singapore. You have to agree with me that they all look so good.
