Japan Airlines launches new amenity kits featuring Etro products

Japan Airlines has launched a new set of ETRO-branded amenity kits in First Class and Business Class last month. JAL is the first airline in the world to give amenity kits bearing the brand of this Italian luxury fashion house. These kits are manufactured by WESSCO International, a design and customer comfort supplying company founded in Los Angeles in 1979. WESSCO International works with airlines, hotels and cruise lines and prides itself as a one-stop shop for the travel industry. Besides supplying amenity kits to airlines, WESSCO also supplies loungewear, dining ware and sleep products such as comforter blankets.

There are two versions of the amenity kit for first class. One for flights departing from Japan and another returning to Japan. These amenity kits are available on flights between Narita and New York, Chicago & Los Angeles as well as for flights between Haneda and New York, San Francisco, London and Paris. In Business Class, an ETRO-branded kit is given to guests departing from Japan.

We received these two First Class kits to review. I like the paisley jacquard fabric wash bag. The motifs, synonymous with ETRO, on the exterior, are pleasing to the eye and can also be reused after the flight to house your personal effects like a mini purse of sorts. The zipper handle bears the ETRO brand while on the front the wash bag also bears the brand name. It is clear JAL wants its guests to know that the kits are from ETRO and it is a brand to proudly showcase.

ETRO moisturiser, lip balm and Eau de Parfum

Products in the amenity kit that are ETRO branded include a small vial of Made in Italy ETRO Shantung Eau De Parfume which is light, refreshing and floral; a 15ml tube of ETRO Shantung Body Lotion which leaves a slightly oily layer after applying on the skin; & an ETRO Lip Balm that contains castor seed oil, shea butter, olive oil, beeswax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, soybean oil, sunflower seed oil and other ingredients. The three items come in a cloth drawstring bag.

The other standard items included in the kit include a one-time use Long Spin X Mouthwash, a packet of tissues, a dental kit with Always toothpaste, eyeshades, moisture mask, earplugs and hairbrush.

Eyeshades and Ear Plugs in JAL First Class ETRO Amenity Kits

An additional Single Use Gentle Steam Eye Mask by KAO is included in the kit for flights returning to Japan. The unscented eye mask warms up to about 40 degrees celsius for approximately 10 minutes allowing you to relieve and relax your eyes. Works like the eyeshades, you hook the eye mask to your ears and relax for 10 minutes with it.
