Changi loses Skytrax Best Airport in The World Title to Hamad International Airport

Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in Doha has been awarded Best Airport in the World title at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2021 taking the eight-consecutive-year title from Singapore’s Changi Airport. Hamad International Airport was also awarded Best Airport in the Middle East, Best Airport 25 to 35 million Passengers, Best Airport Staff in the Middle East and Covid-19 Airport Excellence.

With the global health crisis, Hamad International Airport accommodated the changing needs of travellers. Sanitisation measures were increased. Advance technological solutions for contactless services at key passenger touchpoints were retrofitted and implemented. These included self-check-in, self bag drop and terminal elevators. It implemented its home-grown automated facial detection system to ensure the wearing of masks for all its staff. HIA uses its Smart Screening Helmets for contactless temperature measurement and autonomous disinfectant robots that emitting concentrated UV light in high passenger flow areas to protect the airport environment.

Qatar is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Official Airport Partner is ready to create memorable experiences for football fans around the world. It will host fan activations across its terminal and ensure seamless connectivity through the airport. The first phase of the airport’s expansion will boost its capacity to accommodate 58 million passengers annually by the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The second phase will commence after the world cup and will serve 60 million passengers annually.

Qatar Airways Named Airline of The Year in AirlineRatings Airline of the Year Awards

Qatar Airways has been named Airline of the Year in AirlineRatings’ Airline of the Year awards. It was also named Best Business Class, Best Middle East Airline and Best Catering. This is the third consecutive year the airline has achieved the Best Business Class accolade for its Qsuite product.
