Hong Kong Airlines recently hosted 30 primary school students from Kwong Ming School in its 20th edition of the “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme. The students were given a tour of Hong Kong Airlines’ caterer Gate Gourmet, check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport, Midfield Concourse and also onboard a Hong Kong Airlines aircraft to learn about the various duties of the pilots and flight attendants.

The tour gave the students first-hand experience. They learned about flight safety, putting on life jackets and were also allowed to visit the cockpit and galley.

Describing the experience as “unforgettable”, student Sam who hopes to one day become a pilot said: “I always knew that pilot training would be an extremely challenging experience. However, after getting the chance to visit the cockpit of an aircraft, and learning directly from pilots, it makes me even more passionate about my dream.”

Fellow student Elise – who sampled the food at Gate Gourmet – noted that she had developed a new level of appreciation for inflight meals, after witnessing the intricate process involved in the preparation, cooking and uploading of food to be served onboard.

“I honestly loved the taste of the food that we were served at Gate Gourmet. I look forward to my next flight with Hong Kong Airlines, where I will be able to dine in the air.”
