Finnair has launched a new range of business class amenity kits earlier this year.
The amenity kits and eye shades feature four different Maija Isola designs from the 1960s – Raitasänky, Joonas, Jenkka and Pieni Melooni, with each pattern in two different colourways. Two designs will be made available at a time, and the designs will change for another two every six months.
These kits are produced with a jacquard weave technique to bring the dark blue together with a second colour in each of the eight combinations.
They are designed to complement the pillow and comforter fabric in the airline’s long-haul business class which feature Maija Isola’s classic Kaivo print in a dark blue tone on tone colourway.
These amenities will be rolled out for all trans-continental flights operated by the Airbus A350 and Airbus A330 aircraft, including those to and from Singapore and Hong Kong.
As the airline embarks on sustainable initiatives to reduce plastic waste by almost 4,500 kg per year, the kits now feature an outer cardboard band instead of a plastic wrap. The eye shades are made with soft-touch fabric and higher quality straps according to the airline. These eye shades are big and comfortable compared to some of the smaller ones I have seen from other airlines that barely cover your eyes.
L:A Bruket skin care products are available in Finnair lounges, airplane cabins and the new amenity kits. L:A Bruket is a natural and organic skincare brand from Sweden.
Each kit comes with 6ml aluminium tubes of the almond-coconut lip cream and a chamomile-lavender facial hydrator. The creamy natural organic lip balm is made with beeswax, almond oil and coconut oil offering a long-lasting moisturising and nourishing effect in a hot and dry or cold climate. The light facial cream is suitable for normal to oily skin. It is rich in moisture and protects the skin. It contains babassu seed oil and extract of chamomile, cucumber, green tea and essential oil of lavender and eucalyptus.
L:A Bruket hand soap and hand cream are available onboard business class lavatories.
L:A Bruket products in the airline’s airport lounge bathrooms and shower suites have scents of cucumber-mint, lemongrass and grapefruit leaf have been chosen to help customers feel refresh and invigorated.
The toothbrush is made with bio-plastic containing cornstarch while the earplugs are wrapped in wax paper.
We hear the new business class slippers are a Nordic-style design made entirely from recycled PET plastic bottles. They do not come in plastic packaging. Instead, each new pair of slippers comes wrapped in a cardboard band just like the Amenity kit.
So as to prevent wastage and to encourage an on-demand concept, less commonly used items such as shavers, socks and combs are available on request. Memory-foam pillows and shawls made of a modacrylic-wool-blend are available on demand.
