Alaska Airlines to Join oneworld Alliance in Summer 2021

Alaska Airlines is strengthening its partnership with American Airlines to expand its global reach for West Coast customers with its home base in Seattle. Alaska Airlines will also join the oneworld alliance in Summer 2021 which will connect Alaska guests to over 1,200 destinations worldwide.

Alaska and American will continue their domestic codeshare relationship which was scheduled to shrink in March 2020. Both airlines will expand codeshare to West Coast international routes from SEA and LAX for broader international access and choice for customers. Customers will enjoy hassle-free booking and travel between the two networks.

With immediate effect, Alaska Mileage Plan members can redeem miles on all American Airlines flights, access any of American’s 50 Admirals Club locations worldwide with an Alaska Lounge membership and continue to earn and redeem Mileage Plan miles on its 16 Global Partners.

From Spring 2020, members can earn Alaska Mileage Plan miles on any American Airlines flight domestically and internationally.

Starting Summer 2021, Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn and redeem miles on all oneworld airlines. Alaska elites enjoy benefits such as priority boarding, premium seating, extra baggage privileges and more when flying on American Airlines or any oneworld airline. MVP Gold or Gold 75k members can also access oneworld network’s 650 lounges.
