For frequent flyers of Cathay Pacific, the airline’s airport lounges bear a similar resemblance regardless of which city it is in. Modelled after the London based Studioilse design template, we first saw the then new design at The Pier First Class lounge at Hong Kong International Airport in 2015. The same design template was introduced at its lounges in Haneda, Bangkok, Manila, Taipei, and London. The lounges in these cities give guests a feeling of home, with warm lighting that lets you feel relaxed before your flight as well as meal options that I call comfort food.
Singapore finally gets its own Cathay Pacific Lounge that can accommodate more than 200 people when Changi Airport Terminal 4 opens 31 October 2017. That is also when Cathay Pacific moves its operations from Terminal 1 where it was using the DNATA and Skyview lounges previously. The lounge is located airside at the mezzanine level of Changi Airport Terminal 4.
Today, it operates eight daily flights between Singapore and Hong Kong and one daily flight between Singapore and Bangkok en route to Hong Kong. The dedicated Cathay Pacific lounge here is well anticipated by the airline’s frequent flyers which are predominantly made up of business people.

Who Can Use the Cathay Pacific Lounge at Chang Airport Terminal 4
The 849 sqm lounge, managed by Plaza Premium Group, is available to First & Business Class customers flying on Cathay Pacific, Silver, Gold & Diamond Marco Polo Club members as well as oneworld Sapphire & Emerald members flying on Cathay Pacific or oneworld member flights on the same day. Cathay Pacific is the only oneworld airline operating at Changi Airport Terminal 4.
The Main Lounge
What I like about Cathay Pacific’s lounges are the variety of seating available to suit different travellers. There is a communal area where you sit around with other travellers. Charging ports and USB charging is available at your convenience. So all you need is your device cable to charge.
The Main lounge area at the lounge in Singapore is the place for you to relax, get some reading done or have a drink and fill your tummy.
The signature solo chair found in all Cathay Pacific Lounges lets you have your private space. This resembles a first class seat in the aircraft. Spacious and wide, it comes with a personal lamp and also charging ports at the footrest while an accompanying side table ensures your drink or items are close at hand.
Cathay Pacific’s Signature Noodle Bar
Whenever I visit Hong Kong, I always have the noodles especially the wonton noodles which are usually filled with generous amount of prawn and minced pork. That’s the same for me when I visit any Cathay Pacific lounge. Cathay Pacific’s signature Noodle Bars offer a selection of Wonton noodles and Dan Dan noodles. In the Singapore lounge, it also offers chicken laksa.
It is easy to identify the Noodle Bar at any Cathay Pacific Lounge. Look out for the Japanese glazed green tiles at the open kitchen area.
Noodles are freshly prepared as the chefs blanch the noodles and add in the ingredients and soups so that you can enjoy the noodles hot.
It is important to have condiments with Asian food, and Cathay Pacific recognises that. Just look at the spread of condiments at The Noodle Bar and you will appreciate that chilli is available for the laksa or anchovies & sesame seeds to go with your dan dan noodles.
Pick a seat that makes your comfortable. There are tables for two, booths for four, benches for larger groups or eat by the open kitchen.
The Food Hall
The Food Hall offers self-serve food offerings and beverages. Salads & noodle dishes, and a cheese platter are offered here throughout the day.
Steaming hot Siu Mais are also available. Enjoy quick bites at the lounge before your flight.
A selection of spirits, wines, Moet & Chandon champagne, soft drinks and beers are available. It would have been nice if Cathay Pacific’s own special Betsy brew bottled beers were available in the lounge as well. This lounge lacks a full-service bar that I am used to at The Pier lounge in Hong Kong International Airport. No signature mock or cocktails for you in Singapore then.
Self-serve machine brewed coffees or Jing teas are also available.
The Bureau
There are three dual operating system iMac workstations and printers at The Bureau on the right side when you enter the lounge. Get some work done or documents printed before your flight. The Bureau is cordoned off from the other sections of the lounge so you don’t get distracted from your work.
Bathrooms
The airline has shared that feedback from its frequent flyers here do not require shower facilities. With many customers here based locally, showers or baths can be taken at home before heading to the airport and the short flight between the two cities render it unnecessary to head to the shower in the lounge.
Hence there are no showers at this lounge. The space is then put to other use. What I like about Cathay Pacific’s restrooms are the abundant supply of Aesop products. The Melbourne-headquartered apothecary was established in 1987 and has been formulating products of the finest quality. I have become a fan of the brand because it sources plant-based and laboratory-made ingredients, and uses only those with a proven record of safety and efficacy. And did I mention, Cathay Pacific introduced me to the brand when I first reviewed its First Class Amenity kits in 2014, and subsequently in 2015. Learn about the amenity kits issued in Premium Economy, Business and First Class in 2017 in our latest review here.
Cathay Pacific flights depart from gates G18 and G19 which is about 5 minutes away from the lounge. The lounge is located near to Gate 11.
