Iconic Marjorie Hotel, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel has opened on 30 December 2024 in the vibrant district of Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia, just 10 minutes drive from Penang International Airport. Designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, the hotel embodies the Tribute Portfolio’s DNA of captivating design. The interior designs and luxurious furnishings have been crafted to offer a multi-sensory experience infused with modern Peranakan elegance.

The hotel boasts 298 guest rooms, including 32 Junior Suites and six Executive Suites, across 32 floors, blending modern comforts with Peranakan-inspired designs. Premium Room and Suite guests enjoy exclusive 24-hour access to the Tiffin Lounge for all-day refreshments and evening cocktails at the rooftop Senses Bar.

Dining options range from Peranakan to international cuisines. Loom & Leafs Lounge offers an elegant setting for casual connections, while Tiffin Hall features all-day communal dining. The rooftop Senses Bar provides stunning city views, signature cocktails, and live entertainment on weekends.

Amenities include a fitness centre, infinity pool, steam room, and an upcoming spa, all on the 13th floor. For business events, the Marjorie Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 800 guests, complemented by six versatile function rooms.

lyf Georgetown Penang has soft-opened in November 2024. This is The Ascott Limited‘s second lyf property in Malaysia, with the first one in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. Located in the bustling heart of Georgetown and close to iconic attractions such as Penang Street Art, Little India, and the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the property provides guests with seamless access to the city’s cultural landmarks, dynamic art scene, and famous culinary experiences, promising an immersive journey into Penang’s vibrant heritage.

Part of a global series introduced at lyf Hotels in Singapore, this installation reflects the spirit of travel as a journey of exploration and shared experiences. Featuring vibrant colours and otherworldly designs, it invites guests to embrace curiosity and connection while leaving the ordinary behind. The Door of Cosmic Dreams will remain on display until February 2025, capturing the essence of discovery that defines lyf Georgetown Penang.

The Penang Marriott Complex, Marriott International’s 50th property in Malaysia, opened in September 2024 along George Town’s prime seafront. This development includes three properties: the Penang Marriott Hotel, Marriott Executive Apartments, and Marriott Residences, strengthening Marriott’s presence in Malaysia with representation from 20 brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.

Penang: Recipes & Wanderings Around an Island in Malaysia showcases captivating original photography by acclaimed artist Luo Yang, taking readers on a visual exploration of Penang’s vibrant landscapes. (Feature image credit to Luo Yang) Alongside the stunning visuals, the book features contributions from international chefs and writers inspired by Penang’s rich culture. Culinary Director André Chiang of the Eastern & Oriental Express introduces the book and shares four home-cooking recipes. Renowned chefs Malcolm Lee and Abby Lee also contribute recipes, while essays by Anna Sulan Masing and Kirthanaa Naidu add depth. Award-winning author Tash Aw offers an exclusive piece of writing to complete this rich collection.
