Atari, a gaming entertainment producer, ihas partnered with GSD Group, a leading innovation and strategy agency, to acquire rights to build video game-themed Atari Hotels in the United States. Phoenix, Arizona will be the first location of the video-game themed destination.
The first Atari hotel is planned to break ground mid-2020 in Phoenix, AZ immediately followed by Austin, TX, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Las Vegas, NV, San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, and Seattle, WA.
Guests of any age and gaming ability will be able to experience immersive experiences including the latest in VR and AR. State-of-the-art venues and studios will be able to accommodate esports events at select hotels.
Shelly Murphy’s GSD Group and Napoleon Smith III, the producer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise rebook will lead the hotel development and design. True North Studio will work alongside GSD Group and Steve Wozniak’s Woz Innovation Foundation to develop the first property.
Over 2.5 billion gamers around the world have spent over US$152.1 billion on games in 2019, an increase of 9.6% year-on-year. Atari Hotels will offer consumers recognisable intellectual property, marrying the origins of gaming and the future of the booming industry into a fun and unique travel destination.
