Sheraton Hotels and Resorts has unveiled a collaboration in Greater China under its ‘Gatherings by Sheraton’ brand programme. Titled ‘Celebrate Life’s Moments at Sheraton,’ this initiative showcases close to 400 pieces of traditional Chinese heritage-inspired crafts across nearly 100 Sheraton hotel lobbies nationwide, offering guests and locals an immersive cultural experience.
In partnership with The ‘Genius Mom’ project, spearheaded by the China Women’s Development Foundation, the exhibitions honour the artistry of local craftswomen while empowering them to preserve and share their cultural heritage. Highlights include Hebei’s Cloth Paste Paintings, a modern take on Manchu patchwork, Guizhou’s Feng Xiang Dyeing, known for its refined Bouyei textile traditions, Guangxi Zhuang Embroidery, showcasing vibrant natural designs, and Hubei’s Xilan Kapu, an intricate brocade weaving joy and blessings into its patterns.
Launched in 2019, The ‘Genius Mom’ initiative supports China’s “Rural Revitalisation” strategy by preserving intangible cultural heritage and empowering women through home-based employment. By providing training, workshops, and innovative product development, the project ensures the sustainable development of their crafts.
This programme aligns with Sheraton’s mission of being ‘The World’s Gathering Place,’ fostering connections through shared cultural experiences. The exhibitions, available until 31 March 2025, invite visitors to explore the artistry of Chinese heritage through interactive showcases and curated displays.
Don’t miss this chance to celebrate culture, community, and creativity during your next visit to Sheraton Hotels in Greater China.
