Citadines Namba Osaka serviced residence Opens for Business

Citadines Namba Osaka serviced residence, owned by Toshin Development Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Takashimaya Group, celebrated its Grand Opening today.

It is located near the Namba Station, amidst the buzz of Osaka’s popular entertainment and shopping district and surrounded by commercial buildings. Tourist attractions close to the serviced residence are the Dotonbori, Kuromon Market, Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Japan and Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.

Citadines Namba Osaka is part of the Takashimaya Higashi Annex, an integrated development of offices, shops and Takashimaya Historical Museum.

Art Deco design that evokes nostalgic memories of a department store of the past with concepts of fashion and shopping are weaved into different parts of the property, furniture pieces, signages and artwork. The marbled column lobby is accentuated by acanthus motifs, ornate carvings, decorative travel trunks and elevators with dial indicators retaining the original design used in the building previously.

Merchandise from Takashimaya Osaka Department Store is showcased in the reception area.

Other amenities here include a carousel-themed children’s playroom and an industrial-themed restaurant with a vintage car, a gymnasium, meeting rooms, launderette, and a resident’s lounge with a kitchen.

There are 313 units with various apartment types for long and short stays. The apartments feature graphic artwork with pattern markings of tailor-made costumes and shoes, quirky furniture pieces with cushions in the form of suit buttons and at TV console that resembles luggage.

The studio apartment is designed for short-stay travellers while the studio executive apartment for extended stays come with a fully-equipped kitchen. Other apartment categories include the one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with separate living rooms.

In 2021, Ascott is opening lyf Tenjin Fukuoka, the group’s first coliving property in Japan under the lyf brand. Another Citadines property is expected to open in Yokohama in 2023.
