Bhutan will host the inaugural Bhutan Innovation Forum at the Dungkar Dzong in Paro from 1 to 3 October 2024, bringing together over 80 global thought leaders to explore the intersections of mindfulness, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. Conversations will explore the connections between art, technology, and mindful entrepreneurship, focusing on investments that drive sustainability. Bhutan embarks on creating the world’s first “Mindfulness City” that will integrate green technologies and mindful innovation to build a community grounded in harmony, well-being and happiness.
The idea of the Mindfulness City was initially introduced by the King in December 2023, underscoring Bhutan’s role as a global pioneer in sustainability. As the world’s sole carbon-negative nation, Bhutan serves as a compelling example of sustainable development. This city, envisioned as a center for mindful innovation, will invite contributions from both Bhutanese and international participants, becoming a shining example of sustainable living.
“The Mindfulness City will be unlike any other, rooted in the principles of Gross National Happiness (GNH). It will be a city that fosters conscious and sustainable businesses, inspired by our spiritual heritage and reflecting the unique Bhutanese identity.”
His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan
