Plaza Premium Group has opened its second First branded lounge at Hong Kong International Airport next to its regular Plaza Premium Lounge at Level 6, Departure Level Terminal 1 near Gate 1. The 815 sqm Plaza Premium First Hong Kong opened 6 July 2018 after a successful opening the Plaza Premium First lounge in Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Satellite Terminal near gate C21 – C27. I got a tour of the lounge then and was pretty impressed.
“We are thrilled to introduce Plaza Premium First to guests seeking personalised and extraordinary services in Hong Kong International Airport,” says Mr. Song Hoi-see, Founder and CEO of Plaza Premium Group. “With the recent expansion of Plaza Premium Group in opening new outlets of Plaza Premium Lounge in Melbourne, Rome, Dammam and Cebu, Plaza Premium First is a reflection of the Group’s commitment in providing the best-in-class services for discerning elite travellers, and is a major step forward in bringing airport lounge services to a new level of refinement.”
Plaza Premium Group recently won the Skytrax Best Independent Lounge for the third year and is also celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year.

How To Access Plaza Premium First Hong Kong
Plaza Premium First is a pay-per-use lounge and charges HK$880 for 3 hours, HK$980 for 5 hours, HK$1080 for 8 hours or HK$1180 for 10 hours. From 6 July to 5 October 2018, you can enjoy an introductory price of HK$700 for 3 hours and bring home a Plaza Premium First Heartwarmer with your drink or soup from the lounge.
Existing Plaza Premium Lounge guests from eligible banks or travel programmes can top up HK$200 per person to enjoy a three-hour access to Plaza Premium First with a bonus offer on one portion of hand-sliced Bellota-Bellota Ibérico Ham and PPF Heartwarmer. Members of Arrture, Plaza Premium Group’s loyalty membership programme, can also redeem 1,500 Arrture Points to enjoy the same offer.
Plaza Premium First positions itself as a higher-end premium lounge just like how some airlines such as Cathay Pacific’s The Pier First Class Lounge have a separate first class lounge. The lounge has various seating areas, food and beverage, à la carte dining at Primo, AeroBar (a whisky & dessert bar), massage services, shower and bathroom, newspapers and magazines, charging facilities, Wi-Fi, left baggage, television, flight info and Infinity Rooms for VIPs.
Natural materials and colours such as wood, stone and natural forest green and beige tones and dim lighting fill this lounge so that guests will feel tranquil with nature.
The lounge has a capacity of up to 250 guests and is open 24 hours daily. Currently, Finnair’s premium class guests are using the Plaza Premium First lounge in Hong Kong.
As you enter the lounge, the Lounge Ambassador will offer you a welcome drink – Pink Rose which is a refreshing non-alcoholic concoction of TWG Bain de Roses tea, grapefruit juice, yuzu soda and basil as well as a personal lounge orientation.
AeroBar
AeroBar was the next thing I saw after entering the lounge and getting greeted by the Lounge Ambassadors at the registration counters. A very friendly head bartender asked me what I would like to drink. I told him to surprise me with something that would wake me up and so he made a Lavazza Classic Espresso Martini that was really good. A wide selection of house pour wines, champagne, liquor, liqueurs, beer as well as non-alcoholic beverages is offered here too.
Whisky Flights might just be the option if you have time to kill before your flight. The Journey of Lost Distillery features three different handcrafted whiskies from The Lost Distillery Archivist Selection to sample at HK$170. You will get a 20ml sampling of Lossit, Stratheden and Dalaruan.
Or go for the Scotch Single Malt Whisky Explore Journey and have a go a Longmorn 16-Year-Old, Edradour Straight from The Cask Sherry Finish 2007 and a Lagavulin 16-year-old for HK$195.
Enjoy premium whisky and hand sliced Bellota-Bellota Ibérico Ham.
Entrées are also served at the bar. Plaza Premium Group has partnered Green common to serve Beyond Meat Burger, a plant-based burger patty invested by Bill Gates and Leonardo DiCaprio. Enjoy a cup of TWG tea or a cuppa Lavazza coffee brewed whichever way you like.
Restaurant Dining at Plaza Premium First Hong Kong
An à la carte menu is available from 11 am to 12 pm. All Day Breakfast comes with a choice of eggs, smoked bacon, chicken sausage, portobello mushroom, guacamole, pinto beans stewed and toast. Rice dishes include Traditional Marinated Goose with Marinated Egg, Thai Green Curry Chicken and Beef Bibimbap with portobello mushroom, fried egg, sesame and seaweed salad. The Maine Lobster and Capellini is served with aromatic lobster velouté. Unfortunately, I was too full to try any of the food during my visit. Vegetarians can have the Beyond Meat Burger with sweet potato fries.
A kid’s menu is also available featuring Spaghetti Bolognaise with broccoli, sweet potato fries and jelly cubes; Mini Beef Burger with baby carrot, sweet potato fries and jelly cubes and Macaroni & Cheese served with sautéed green peas, sweet potato fries and jelly cubes.
A self-service salad and fruit bar, as well as hot dishes, are available. There was Hong Kong Style Fish Ball Noodles, Chicken Congee and Steamed Chinese Rice Rolls when I was there.
Shower Facilities
There are two shower suites with attached WCs. You have to register with the front desk and the shower suites are subject to availability.
The lounge is equipped with separate washrooms for men and women as well as two shower rooms with UK’s ELEMIS Revitalise-Me hand and body wash and lotion.
Guests get to enjoy a 10-minute pressure point massage treatment. There are two massage therapists available. Remember to book your massage at the reception when you enter the lounge to avoid any disappointment.
Sit Back and Relax
The spacious lounge has many seating areas to suit your mood. You can also rent the Infinity Room, a private lounge space which can host 20 guests or more. Let’s hope it doesn’t get too crowded the next time I visit. I like it when it is more exclusive without the congestion that is common in many airline lounges.
In Hong Kong International Airport, Plaza Premium Group operates the Plaza Premium First Lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge near gate 40, Plaza Premium Lounge – Shower and Relaxation near gate 60, Plaza Premium Lounge at Terminal 2 Arrivals, Plaza Premium Lounge near gate 1 and Transit Resting Lounge by Aerotel near gate 35.
