Sydney was just a stopover of under 24 hours before we headed off to Uluru for Season two of Field of Lights, a massive light installation under the stars. Arriving on our red eye flight aboard Scoot flight TZ2 from Singapore at 11.30 am, we checked into the Swissôtel Sydney located in the heart of Sydney’s central business district. The five-star hotel is just walking distance to Queen Victoria Building and Westfield Sydney. Funny enough, the QT Sydney that I have heard so much about was located directly opposite from the Swissôtel Sydney. In the evening, we took a leisurely stroll to Circular Quay for cocktails at the Hacienda at The Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour that offered panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Ended the night with a fabulous dinner at Scarlett located at Harbour Rocks Hotel Sydney – MGallery by Sofitel.

A Warm Welcome at Swissôtel Sydney
The Swissôtel Sydney features 369 rooms and suites. It recently went through renovations and has since introduced 14 new Signature Skyline rooms and suites which I got the chance to take a look during my stay. It was my first encounter with the Swissôtel brand and unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to really enjoy the facilities at the hotel.
Checked into my room and got a personalised note as well as complimentary refreshments and delicious pastries. This came in handy while I settled in, had a quick wash up before heading off for a late lunch with an old friend from Singapore who had moved from Brisbane to Sydney.
A for effort. Too pretty to eat at first, but the tummy reacted differently, so I popped a few of the madeleines and a tart.
Swiss Executive Room
My home for the night was in a newly renovated Swiss Executive Room located on level 25. The king Sealy bed features 300 count Frette linen and firm pillows offered me a good night’s rest fit for royalty. The room was spacious, the way I like it.
I was fortunate to have slept very well on Scoot’s red eye flight from Singapore. I was flying in the Scoot-in-Silence cabin located between ScootBiz and Economy class. And I had a row of three seats to myself so I could lie flat and sleep. Better than business class, I guess.
The curvey white work desk by the windows had ample sunlight brightening it up. There were two electrical plugs good for Australian electronics. Don’t forget to bring your adapters. Good thing I brought an extension cord with three sockets. After putting in the adapter, I could only fit one. And try plugging in a Macbook charger.
Didn’t really get to enjoy any television programmes on the 40″ LED television or the complimentary Nespresso coffee from the minibar that was cleverly hidden in an eye-catching white cabinet next to the television.
I did succumb to habit and made myself a cup of hot Aurora-branded green tea before going into a very deep sleep.
Turn down service at the Swissôtel Sydney came with Lindt chocolates.
The art-deco style bathroom features separate bath and shower.
Swissotel Standard Amenities
Enjoy your stay at any Swissôtel with standard amenities.
Bottles of water are provided to keep you hydrated.
I’ve learned to like these Purovel toiletries. The bar soap keeps your hand moist. No matter how much you wash your hands, they still remain soapy.
Swissôtel Sydney Corner Balcony King Room
The other rooms in the hotel are equally impressive. The Corner King Room comes with a balcony which are great for enjoying the breathtaking Sydney CBD views and sunset. Enjoy some wine with your fellow traveller and breathe in copious amounts of cool fresh air.
Swissôtel Sydney Signature Skyline Suite
Located on the top floor of the hotel on level 25 is the 66 sqm suite that offers a separate lounge and dining area, free standing bath and walk in wardrobe. These newly built suites offer one King bed with 300 count Frette linen, twin basin ensuite, rain water shower, two interactive entertainment centres with 40″ LED TVs along with complimentary internet. Guests staying in suites get access to the Executive Club lounge which offers buffet breakfast, tea, coffee and cold beverages throughout the day, afternoon tea, pre-dinner cocktails and evening canapés.
The television in the bedroom also works as a mirror.
The spacious marble bathroom offers separate bath and rain showers.
Spaces at the Swissôtel Sydney Executive Lounge
The Executive Lounge is located on level nine. Enjoy views of the city skyline, Hyde Park and St. Mary’s Cathedral. The lounge has its own fireplace for winter and a library that is equipped with books provided by employees of Swissôtel Sydney and around the world.
The lounge has many different spaces for guests. But there is really so much more to see outside the hotel. Don’t coup yourself in the lounge unless it is raining or if you are exhausted from the day.
The Outdoor Pool and Jacuzzi
The rooftop pool is open from 6 am to 9 pm. Relax on the deck chairs or swim a few laps. You can also enjoy lunch at the pool.
And enjoy a Jacuzzi soak while you are here.
