Qantas, Singapore Tourism Board and Changi Airport Group will invest S$5 million to promote Singapore as a destination and a connecting gateway to Asia, Europe and Australia for the next three years. The three parties will work together on a series of joint marketing campaigns in Australia, the United Kingdom and Southeast Asia to promote travel on Qantas via Singapore.

Qantas will reintroduce its Sydney -Singapore – London A380 services from 25 March this year. The airline has also upgauged flights between Melbourne and Singapore and will operate flights between the two cities on the A380. This means that capacity between Singapore and Sydney or Melbourne has been increased. Qantas’ A380 aircraft has a capacity of 14 in First, 64 in Business, 35 in Premium Economy and 371 in Economy. The upper deck accommodates the Business Class (2-2-2) and Premium Economy Class (2-3-2) cabin and 30 Economy Class (in a 2-4-2 configuration) seats at the rear. The First Class and main Economy Class cabins take up the main deck.

Qantas has been flying to Singapore for over 80 years. Singapore is Qantas’ largest hub outside of Australia, carrying over 20% of the airline’s widebody fleet.

London is Changi Airport’s busiest long-haul destination. The introduction of Qantas’ new flights will increase the total number of weekly services between Singapore and London to 53. That’s equivalent to 19,600 one way seats. British Airways operates twice-daily flights on the A380 and B777 while Singapore Airlines operates 4 times daily flights with two on its B777 and two on the A380 to London Heathrow. Norwegian Air operates four weekly flights from Singapore to London Gatwick on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The low cost carrier offers seats in Economy and Premium.
