Emirates has a new Business Class in its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft featuring wider seats in a 2-2-2 configuration for the first time. 10 existing 777-200LR aircraft in the fleet will be refurbished over the course of this year, costing the airline US$150 million.
There are 38 Business Class seats and 264 Economy Class seats in this aircraft type.
The Business Class seat is now two inches wider and bears the same design and shape of Emirates‘ latest lie-flat seats. They also feature the champagne coloured finish and diamond stitch pattern on the full leather cover as well as the ergonomically designed headrest revealed on its newest Boeing 777 in November last year. The seats have a pitch of 72 inches and move into a fully flat bed. There are touchscreen controls for the seat and in-flight entertainment system with personal lighting options, privacy panels between setas, a shoe storage area, footrest and a personal mini-bar. The centre overhead bins have been removed to make the cabin more spacious. The windows are controlled electronically and the IFE screens are 23 inches wide.
Business Class customers can enjoy snacks such as crisps, sandwiches and fruit and beverages during the flight at the mini lounge area.
Economy class seats have also been refreshed to the latest colour palette of soft greys and blues. Seats come with full leather headrests with flexible side panels that can be adjusted vertically for optimum support.
The aircraft is equipped with Wi-Fi and live tv across all classes.
The newly refurbished 777-200LR will go into service on 6 March to Fort Lauderdale. Once the other nine 777-200LR are retrofitted, they will serve several destinations including the airline’s most recently announced destination – Santiago in Chile.
