Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon will introduce high-speed Wi-Fi to its Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 fleet from mid 2018. Broadband service was first introduced when Cathay Pacific got its first Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The group expects all wide-body aircraft to have in-flight connectivity capabilities by 2020.
Cathay Group will be the first major carriers in Asia to adopt Gogo’s 2Ku satellite-based broadband in-flight connectivity technology. Soon you will be able to check your emails, browse the web, access your social networks and shop online using your Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A3560 fleet is not using Gogo’s 2Ku for its in-flight wi-fi service. The Gogo 2Ku system for the A330 and B777 fleets were chosen after a vigorous and thorough selection process. The airline will be working on enhancing the existing A350 connectivity solution.
Pricing for the Wi-Fi service is still being reviewed by the airline and will be announced early next year. The current in-flight Wi-Fi pricing onboard Cathay Pacific’s A350 is US$12.99 for short and medium-haul flights and S$19.99 for long-haul flights.
