Saudia Tops Global Airlines for On-Time Performance in June 2024, Achieves Remarkable Operational Efficiency

Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has been ranked first worldwide for on-time performance by Cirium, an independent aviation tracking site, in its June 2024 report. The airline achieved an impressive 88.22% on-time arrival rate and an 88.73% on-time departure rate, operating 16,133 flights across over 100 destinations on four continents. This accomplishment is particularly remarkable given that June is a peak travel month due to the Hajj pilgrimage and the summer travel season.

Saudia successfully concluded its operations for Hajj Season 1445H, ending the 74-day period with the final flight, SV5712, departing from Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina and carrying 320 pilgrims to Magelang, Indonesia. Throughout the Hajj season, Saudia maintained exceptional operational efficiency, providing a wide range of quality services to enhance the pilgrims’ spiritual journey. These services included digital platforms to streamline travel processes, expedited procedures at airports, outstanding in-flight services and catering, and informative programs available in multiple languages on in-flight entertainment screens.

“This accomplishment is a realisation of our strategic goals to enhance operational efficiency and quality through continuous improvements in flight scheduling and the implementation of the best digital solutions and systems for operations management. Maintaining a high level of on-time performance requires significant effort, as it involves overcoming numerous operational challenges in the aviation industry, such as weather conditions, high temperatures, technical issues, and other airport-related factors. I express my gratitude to all Saudia employees for their diligent work in maintaining the national flag carrier’s operational excellence.”

His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group

Since last year, Saudia has consistently ranked among the top ten global airlines for on-time performance, underscoring its dedication to the highest standards of quality and air safety. Its operations are coordinated through the largest Integrated Operation Control Center (IOCC) in the Middle East, functioning within an extensive system that includes all sectors and group companies. The IOCC employs cutting-edge technologies for aircraft communications, ensuring seamless operations by real-time monitoring of all procedures related to aircraft takeoff and landing at both domestic and international stations.
