This marks Malaysia Airlines’ 13th destination in South Asia. The airline last operated direct flights to the Maldives in 2017. Additionally, this year the airline plans to launch two new destinations: Chiang Mai, Thailand, starting on August 15, and daily flights to Danang, Vietnam, from September 24, 2024. The airline recently announced it has collaborated with Chef Darren Chin to launch a multi-sensory campaign in anticipation of the airline’s inaugural route to Chiang Mai.
The airline will introduce an original documetnary travel series ‘Time for Chiang Mai with Chef Darren Chin’ which portrays Darren’s journey in bringing the region’s dishes to life. Among the menu highlights served during the dinner at Gai by Darren Chin were Khao Soi Gai as a table starter, Northern Kingfish Larb Salad as a bite-sized appetiser; Fried Banana Blossom, Wild Red Coral Trout in ‘Hor Mok’ Farce, Songkhla River Prawn and Aged Duck Supreme in ‘Kheng Tet’ Northern Spice as main course. The evening concluded with delightful desserts including Padanus Pudding in Coconut Cream and Egg Custard Sangkaya with Sticky Rice, leaving everyone eager to discover more of Chiang Mai’s cultural and culinary treasures.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Malaysia Airlines is offering special promotional fares from now until 31 August 2024 for travellers to explore Maldives under the theme “The Time for the Maldives”. All-in return fares start from MYR899 for Economy Class and are available for travel until 30 March 2025.
Take advantage of add-ons featuring a 10% discount off ancillary bundles such as value bundles, premium bundles, and MH Traveller’s Trio bundle, which includes a standard seat, 10kg extra baggage, and access to the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge at KLIA.
