Cathay Pacific Launches Direct Hong Kong–Munich Flights with A350

Cathay Pacific has launched a new direct service between Hong Kong and Munich, marking the first time the airline has connected its home hub to the Bavarian capital. The new route began on 16 June 2025 and is part of Cathay Pacific’s ongoing expansion across Europe this summer.

The flight operates four times a week, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, using the airline’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Passengers can look forward to fully flat beds in Business Class, extra comfort in Premium Economy, and upgraded Economy cabins for a smooth long-haul experience.

Flight CX301 departs from Hong Kong at 1:10am and arrives in Munich at 7:55am local time. The return flight, CX300, leaves Munich at 1:55pm and lands in Hong Kong at 6:50am the following day. All times are local.

Munich is an important destination for both business and leisure travellers. As a key economic, cultural and transportation hub in Germany, the city offers a blend of art, innovation, history and connectivity to other parts of Europe. Cathay Pacific’s new service allows travellers to fly direct between the two cities and connect onwards through codeshare partners across the continent.

This new route is just one part of a broader growth plan by the Cathay Group, which includes Cathay Pacific and its sister airline HK Express. In 2025, the Group is set to serve 100 passenger destinations worldwide. So far this year, they’ve already launched flights to Rome and Munich, with Brussels returning on 3 August. Meanwhile, HK Express has started services to Cheongju and Daegu, with flights to Miyako (Shimojishima) coming up soon.

By this summer, Cathay Pacific will operate close to 100 return flights per week to 12 destinations across Europe. These include major cities like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris and Zurich, among others. The increased connectivity reinforces Hong Kong’s role as a major international aviation hub.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, highlighted the importance of the new service to Munich, describing the city as “a key economic, manufacturing and transportation hub in Europe.” She also emphasised how the growing global network supports Hong Kong’s status as a premier gateway between the Chinese Mainland and the rest of the world.

Beyond passenger flights, Cathay Cargo is also boosting its presence in Europe. The cargo division plans to operate seven freighter services per week to and from Europe during the peak summer period.
