Air France Opened a Rooftop Restaurant in Paris. And It Might Be Better Than Flying

This summer, Air France is once again offering travellers and Parisians a rare treat. That’s a taste of its long-haul Business Class cuisine, served with a side of sweeping city views. From 25 June to 20 August 2025, the French flag carrier is reopening its pop-up restaurant on The Rooftop at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann. It’s a culinary experience that mirrors the airline’s onboard service, but with the added glamour of the Eiffel Tower and Montmartre as your backdrop.

Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural pop-up at the Palais de Tokyo during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Air France has opted for a new but equally iconic location for its 2025 edition. The eighth-floor rooftop of the Galeries Lafayette Coupole Store will now be home to this exclusive dining concept, with views that stretch across the Paris skyline.

The restaurant has been designed to mirror the elegance and intimacy of Air France’s airport lounges and cabin interiors. Dressed in the airline’s signature navy blue, white, and red, the space includes just 20 seats with two lunch services daily. The setting is as much a part of the experience as the food itself—whether you’re lounging outdoors or soaking in the cityscape from a sunbed, it feels like Business Class has truly landed on terra firma.

But the real star of the show is the food. Prepared by airline catering giant Servair, the meal replicates a full French-style in-flight dining service. From appetisers to desserts, everything is plated on specially designed tableware by Jean-Marie Massaud—yes, the same used onboard. The entire experience evokes the atmosphere of Air France’s Business cabin, except you’re dining at cruising altitude above Paris’s rooftops.

Triple Michelin-starred chef Régis Marcon is behind the savoury creations. Known for his refined approach to regional French cuisine, Marcon offers a choice of dishes including chicken with morel mushroom sauce, rice pilaf and green asparagus, and a vegetarian Camargue rice trio dressed in citrus and root vegetable sauces. Each plate is a nod to his home region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and crafted with the same finesse that flyers have come to expect at 30,000 feet.

Dessert lovers won’t be disappointed. Nina Métayer, crowned World’s Best Pastry Chef in 2023, is the talent behind the sweets on offer. Her creations, such as the Crunchy Hazelnut and Caramel Delight and a reimagined Tarte Tatin, are indulgent yet elegant, delivering just the right amount of decadence for a summer afternoon.

The experience would be incomplete without a thoughtfully curated wine pairing. That’s where Xavier Thuizat, Air France’s head sommelier and the acclaimed wine director of Hôtel de Crillon, steps in. His wine and champagne selections are designed to complement the menu in true French fashion. There are also a variety of non-alcoholic options for those abstaining but still wanting a luxurious touch.

Air France’s rooftop restaurant is located at 40 boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement and will operate from 11.30am to 3.30pm daily, except Tuesdays. Reservations are essential, with the lunch menu priced at €93 including drinks. If you’re a fan of aviation, fine dining, or simply a memorable Parisian experience, this seasonal pop-up promises all three in one unforgettable afternoon.

It’s not just a lunch. It’s a boarding pass to the best of French hospitality, no flight required.
